6 down, 12 to go!!

WEEK 26: March 20, 2017

I can´t believe it, but i hit 6 months this past week! Sis Lee also hit her 17 month mark on the same day, so you bet your bottom we ate out and then made some dang good bolacha maria icecream. It was bomb. Time is flying here in Cabo Verde!

This week was awesome though! Sis lee and I are working really hard and finally seeing miracles in this area. We were able to hit the mission `standards of excellence` for this week and ended up with 6 people marked for baptism and 9 new pesquisadors! MILAGRES MAN.

We are currently working with this awesome couple named Miry and Nelson. They´ve been `dating` for 5 years now, but still have yet to get married. Nelson is a pro-soccer player here in Santo Antao, so you can imagine how well we get along! And Miry is the nicest human ever. They have fed us 4 times in the past 7 days! #Blessed We initially found and taught Miry by herself and then found out that she lived at her boyfriends house (Nelson.) They are both SO awesome, and both have a desire to learn more and be baptized. We´re still at that awkward point in the lessons where they aren´t fully grasping the fact that they either need to get married, or live seperately to be baptized. But we´re working on it, and really trying to help them learn more and understand the importance of marriage. So pray our next lesson with them goes well!

Ronise and Elton are still doing good as well! Yesterday we found out that Elton had a little slip up after his championship soccer game, and got pretty wasted. He felt terrible and wouldn´t even talk to us or come to church. Luckily, we were able to go up there after church and have a lesson with him and Ronise. We let him know that ít´s normal to re-lapse with these addictions, but the important part is what we do afterwards. We talked about the atonement and the amazing ability we have to repent. The lesson went really well, and we hope they understood that we still love them and will continue to help them work towards marriage and baptism. Just continue to keep them in your prayers please (:

Other than that, not much else happened this week. Yesterday was so awesome with 6 pesquisadors and 6 menos ativos in church. It´s been SO awesome to watch this ward grow and see the hand of the Lord on this teeny little island in the middle of the ocean. My testimony has grown so much while being out here on my mission, and seeing how much God truly does care for and love every single one of his children. I encourage all of you to take a step back and realize how beyond blessed we are to have this gospel and knowledge in our lives. So many people here have never even heard about a igreja de Jesus Cristo dos Santos dos Ultimos Dias (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints)...it´s incredible to see what differences and changes occur once they do. I love this gospel. I love my Savior. I love these people. and I´m so grateful for everything I´m learning out here. I still have such a long ways to go, and so much more to learn, but good thing I´ve got a year left out here......(;

I love you all so much and am beyond grateful for your love and support. Have a great week and don´t forget to give a (late) HBD shoutout to Dorothy smith. shoutout to Mindy for giving birth to her. love you gurllll. xoxo
