Hospital Guessing Games

WEEK 57: October 23, 2017

Welcome to another week in the African life of Sis Kjorgy. Island life is the good life, and also the sweaty life. #burningcalories LOL JOKES. Shoutout to Duffin and Leswes for returning back to America and real life. Im so sorry..haha. I never want to return back to normal life. I think I´ll stay here 5ever...but really, Im glad you two made it back safely. I love you both and so grateful for your examples and strong testimonies. Keep kickin Satan´s butt in Utah (: ~

As for this week, it was quite eventful. just the usual happened Mon-Thurs. Lots of walking, knocking doors, teaching lessons, and feeling the spirit. It was amazing. And then the weekend happened...and things got real fun real fast! First, on Friday our 1st counselor called saying that a 40 year old women in our ward had passed away. Sis Barbosa and I didn't know her because she has been inactive for quite some time, but the family wanted her to have a funeral in an LDS church. Our first counselor called that afternoon asking for help on how to plan out a funeral. So me and Sis B got right on over to the church to help him out. Little did we know, the funeral would be starting in an hour at the chapel....HA HA Cabo Verde! So yeah, we planned a funeral in roughly 45 minutes and then walked down to the cemetery with the family. Here it is tradition to walk behind the car with the casket, so we walked 20 minutes down to the cemetery. And then when they buried the body....man you would have thought someone got shot. So much screaming. Here in Cabo Verde it´s tradition to scream and sing words at the same time. Quite the experience. It was so sad though bc these ppl have no idea that they will see that lovely woman again some day. We definitely have our work cut out in teaching all those people the plan of salvation!

Second, on Saturday afternoon Sis Barbosa noticed what looked like a small mosquito bite on her arm. Sunday morning, to our surprise, she had what looked like a tennis ball sized lump on her forearm. So of course we took her into the hospital. We waited about 2 hours before seeing the medic, and seeing as we´re in Cabo Verde, the kind woman grabbed her arm, stared at it for a little, touched it with her pointer finger and proclaimed `you´ve been bit by a centipede!` ........ no tests were run. nothing. haha I wish you all could live here for a week just to see what it´s like. I love it (: on the bright side, they prescribed her some meds that she started taking today, so we´ll see if anything changes. Pray for her pls!

MIRACLE OF THE WEEK: WE HAD 5 PESQ IN IGREJA (church) AGAIN. PPL. THIS IS INCREDIBLE. this area is so amazing and there are so many amazing people here. Unfortunately, they dont always want to listen to us or change their lives for the better, but I still love them. This gospel is amazing and I love serving the Lord everyday!! It´s so nice focusing on others. We also have two girls planned for baptism this weekend. They are sisters and absolutely adorable. Their names are Gilmara and Diana. They are so prepared and their uncle is a returned missionary which should truly help them stay active! Pics will be sent next week of them. Anyways, this is longggg so imma peace out. Have a great day and remember WHO´S you are. (a daughter and/or son of GOD) I love you all so much and hope you all know how much I love my Savior and His work.

PS...give Maizy a hug for me. xoxo

 Much love Sis Jorgensen
